My Daughter and Her Beautiful Dreadlocks

 

Santina is 8 years and loves, loves her hair. Girls in school always ask her if that is her hair.

Her favorite saying is " These are not dreads, they are locks, because there is nothing dreadful about my hair!"

I find that many mothers fear to lock their little girls hair for many reasons. All I know is Santina gets complements from all nationalities, men, women, girls and boys.

Most importantly she embraces her uniqueness, because she doesn't know many young girls her age with locks.

Personally I find her beautiful as she is.

Over View of Natural Hair in 2009

Natural hair as a whole is a growing industry and I must say it just warms up my heart to see that we as a people are moving closer to our origin.

Personally I find that we look more attractive with our natural mane.

• Locks/ Dreadlocks where featured in the movies, music videos, poster adds etc.

• Maryland held it first ever Natural Awards show.

• Search for the Next Natural Model went national.

More and more natural hair is being embraced world wide. It truly is time for change.

However, I thought there would be more fuss made over Chris Rocks "Good Hair" Documentary.

I appreciated it, although not enough was mentioned about natural hair.

I'm not mad because I intend on coming up with the sequel "Really Good Hair" all on natural hair journeys.

Until then my beautiful natural people. Stay tuned and please share with me your natural hair stories, or just highlight what your views were on the 2009 natural hair journey.
